Cahuenga Valley Citrus Exchange – A Hollywood Tavern
NAMING & BRANDING
The team behind Kitchen24 approached bread & Butter as ‘Treehouse Tavern’, in search of branding for their new restaurant & bar concept in the heart of the Vinyl District in Hollywood, CA. After some vetting and research we highly recommended they consider dropping the naming convention due to the ambiguous nature of the name and competitors with similar names in the same market. The name Cahuenga Valley Citrus Exchange was elected to pay homage to the rich history and culture of Cahuenga Valley and more specifically the lemon exchange that was prominent among farmers & growers in the area during the late 19th century. The name lent itself to an artistic merge between a handmade woodcut illustration style found on citrus crates and geometric typographic moments that honor vintage produce labels.
